Please ask our information & referral specialists for lists of local friendly and affirming service providers, including family doctors and general practitioners. Our information & referral specialists can also help you navigate gender transition, including health care and non-medical resources.
DISCLAIMER: The “Affirming Resources & Services Guide” is a community-generated resource, and is an ongoing living document. At the Pride Centre of Edmonton (PCE), we update it as often as possible, removing and adding entries based on feedback from members of the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Listings are added in good faith, but the PCE cannot guarantee that every interaction, or service provider listed in this document will be gender-affirming or accept new patients. This document belongs to all of us – if you think someone should be added, you’ve had a positive experience, or you have a concern about a provider, please let us know at hello@pridecentreofedmonton.ca.

Informed Consent
Did you know that all doctors in Alberta have the ability to prescribe hormones, and help you start the transition process? This is possible with Alberta’s “informed consent” model.
Sometimes doctors will try to turn folks away because they’re unsure how to care for us and don’t want to cause harm. Our friends from the “Trans Wellness Initiative” have provided a tool to address this in the “Primary Care Resource Toolkit.” Bring this resource to your doctor, who can visit the link and/or scan the QR code on the postcard with information on how to start this process. Here are some additional resources from our friends at the QTHC: “Health Care Self-Advocacy Tip Sheet for 2SLGBTQIA+ Community, and “Tip Sheet for Healthcare Providers on 2SLGBTQIA+ Affirming Care”.
